The Rambler’s Do-Over

August 22, 2016 by The Rambler 3 Comments

Life is definitely different.

If you had a Do Over in life, would you take it?  Would you run sprinting to the Do Over baton holding person part of your relay team so you could grab it and finish your life (I mean race) the best you can?

I dipped my toe back in the dating world after my divorce.  Lets say some of the water was a myriad (extremely great number…I needed a new word for my vocabulary I don’t always use) of temperatures.   Instead of being a 30 something year old woman who could drive a motor vehicle safely and manage a decent work load, I felt like a 15 year old with acne hoping someone would like her.   Oi.

Fast Forward through all the logistics of romance, I met the love of my life.  Married him.  And his job.  The United States Army.  We packed all our belongings and have made our way to his new assignment.   From a little island in the Pacific to Louisiana.  I’ve been many things, but becoming a military spouse….well is different.  But not.  But is.

Now, I find myself learning to be that woman I didn’t know I wanted to be.  The kind who tries to organize a household full time.  How do these woman do it???

God just handed me a Do-Over and I want to do this right.

Shopping at the Grocery store and learning how to use a coupon….it hurts my brain, but I’m gonna get this.

Menu planning…I don’t even know what I want to eat an hour before and now deciding for the entire week what our meals are.  Anxiety inducing.  But, I’m rewiring myself.  I do not work in a restaurant anymore where choices are plentiful.

Cooking…now with time on my hands, I’m compelled to try recipes that require more instruction than, Add water, boil,  mix powdered cheese to super soft sponge bob noodles.

Excercise…Holy Hell.  I have all this time and no discipline.  My excuse game is strong.

Makeup…I never had the patience or the time to really figure out how to do a proper line of the eye, mascara them lashes, blot the lips with more than my one color I’ve had since 2005.  It’s on.  I just need to google what a highlighter does right quick.

My favorite thing….being a bus stop mom and getting to wait for my kid after school.

Do Over…What would you change if you got the chance?

Love Love,

The Rambler

P.S. My old home where all my other ramblings sit until I can move them over this way (Or PCS my old blog…haha, I’m inserting some of that Army Jargon you have to learn when you join/marry in)…go there to catch up.  Click this now…go, do it, please…

Aloha, I’m Selena, The Rambler of My Rambling Thoughts. A storyteller, wife & mother just trying to make it to the next day by hunting for the funny to stay sane! I inhale coffee to keep my brain functioning. I occasionally binge on Netflix. I beg my dog to just leave the toilet paper alone for one second when I’m using the potty, and I pray to all that is holy I can get through a homework session without breaking Google for whatever is making my child smarter for her future. And I humorously navigate my new life as a military spouse without embarrassing my husband wherever the Army sends us. Did I forget anything?

    Hey Rambler,
Great to see you blogging again. I love the new look of the page, very fancy. I am looking forward to once again reading of your many adventures. As for myself and do overs, I would have saved money better in my early years. Then I could have some for this dam tuition I have to pay every year…lol. Other than that, my choices have led me to the friends, husband and children that I have today and I wouldn’t do any of that over. Hugs to you Rambler and please keep on ramblin’.

I missed your blogs! I’m so excited you are writing!!! Do-over…the only do-over, if I could choose a do-over, would be in my career. Although I’m grateful for the one I have…It’s not what inspires me. Can’t wait to read your blogs!!!
